CARE of Linen
Linen is a luxurious and durable fabric that can be enjoyed for years to come with proper care.
Here’s a breakdown of how to wash, dry, iron, and store your linen items.
WASHING
- Separate colors: Wash light and dark linens separately to prevent color bleeding.
- Use a gentle cycle: For the best result, we would recommend hand washing or washing machine in a temperature not higher than 40C / 104F, in the mild program (silk & wool).
- Avoid harsh detergents: Use a mild detergent formulated for delicate fabrics.
- Don’t bleach: Bleach can damage the fibers and discolor the fabric.
DRYING
- The best airy drying – Hang linen items outdoors or indoors in a well-ventilated area. This helps maintain their shape and softness.
- Tumble dry on low heat: If you need to use a dryer, set it on low heat. Avoid overdrying, as this can cause the linen to shrink or become stiff.
IRONING
- Iron while damp: Linen is easiest to iron when slightly damp.
- Use a hot iron: Set your iron to the highest heat setting suitable for linen.
- Iron inside out: This helps protect the fabric’s surface.
- Avoid excessive ironing: Over-ironing can cause linen to become shiny or stiff.
STORING
- Store in a cool, dry place: Avoid storing linen in humid or damp areas.
- Fold or hang: For long-term storage, fold linen items carefully and place them in a drawer or closet. Alternatively, you can hang them to prevent wrinkles.
- Avoid plastic bags: Storing linen in plastic bags can trap moisture and lead to mildew.
ADDITIONAL TIPS
- Pretreat stains: For stubborn stains, pretreat them with a stain remover before washing them.
- Wash less frequently: Linen can become softer, brighter, and more absorbent with repeated washes. If possible, air out your linen items between wears to reduce odors
- Avoid fabric softener: Fabric softeners can leave a residue on linen and reduce its absorbency.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your linen items remain beautiful and long-lasting.
